David R. Cagna, DMD, MS
Dr. David Cagna is Associate Dean for Postgraduate Affairs as well as Professor and the Director of the Advanced Prosthodontics Program in the Department of Prosthodontics at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He received his dental degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Dental Medicine in 1990 and completed residency training in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Dental School in 1994. He also received a Master of Science Degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, School of Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Cagna is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. He holds memberships in the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the International Academy of Gnathology, American Association of Dental Research, and the American College of Prosthodontists. He is on the editorial review boards and/or provides editorial services to the Journal of Prosthodontics, Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, Journal of Dental Research, Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, and the Journal of Dental Education. He is co-author of the textbook Stewart’s Clinical Removable Partial Prosthodontics and has authored numerous articles appearing in the dental literature. He lectures extensively on a variety of topics associated with prosthodontics and dental laboratory science.
Dr. Cagna conducts an active private practice in the University of Tennessee Dental Faculty Practice where he manages all phases of clinical and laboratory prosthodontic patient care. Additionally, his research interests include clinical and biomechanical evaluation of dental implants and implant restorations, dental materials testing, optimizations of dental laboratory procedures, mandibular motion, and articulator accuracy.
