Program Summary

As infection control practices have evolved and become more regimented, dental unit water lines have all but been forgotten. The fact is that bacteria that causes biofilm can build up in the self-contained water bottle, the lines to the high speed hand piece, the three way air/water syringe, and the ultrasonic/piezo tubing. This CE webinar will discuss how to properly flush these lines and keep the water at a safe drinking level, standards for our drinking water, and talk about the bacteria that effects us.

Educational Objectives

Following this presentation, the practitioner should be able to:

  1. Identify the need for a dental water maintenance program.
  2. Learn about health risks associated with contaminated waterlines.
  3. Know how to reduce the number of heterotrophic bacteria in dental waterlines.
  4. Understand a five-step process for maintaining optimal water quality.
  5. Describe available options for waterline testing.
