Nuala Porteous, DDS MPH
Dr. Nuala Porteous received her dental surgery degree from University College Cork, Ireland, and an MPH degree from The University of Texas, School of Public Health at Houston. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health and is currently an associate professor/research in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, UT Health San Antonio, School of Dentistry
She has worked as a private dental practitioner and has held previous faculty appointments at the UT School of Dentistry in the Department of Community Dentistry as clinical instructor (1995-1998), assistant professor (1998-2005), associate professor (2005-2007), and infectious diseases fellow in the Department of General Dentistry (2000-2002).
Her research activities include clinical trials to test the efficacy of oral healthcare products and infection control issues, with a particular focus on dental unit waterline contamination. She has authored or co-authored numerous scholarly articles in scientific journals of national and international circulation.
